Julia returned to Europe in July 2020 with her husband and 2 small children to the beautiful island Venøya, on the west coast of Norway. Julia’s intention is to use her international experience and strong clothing expertise to create meaningful work that will benefit the region and beyond. Julia and her artist husband Bjørn Venø are working on various projects that have the potential to question the current value system to encourage alternative perspectives and  exploration.

Knitting is a way of living, a creative expression, a language of love and care. To receive a hand knitted garment is one of the most beautiful gestures one human can give to another. The time spent, the material used, the purpose intended, the pattern carefully selected, skillfully expressed, a labor of love to be shared.

The word ‘to knit’ means so much more than the actual technique applied. It is a way to unite, to link and join us together, to ultimately connect with one another.

This is the purpose of the project STRIKKET! It is to celebrate the artistic language of the wonderful knitters in this region and beyond. It is to celebrate a way to connect with each other. It is to celebrate to link creative forms of expression.

Let us knit together!
